Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium

This includes:

  • our school’s pupil premium grant allocation amount
  • a summary of the main barriers to educational achievement faced by eligible pupils at the school
  • how we spend the pupil premium to address those barriers and the reasons for that approach
  • how we measure the impact of the pupil premium
  • the date of the next review of the school’s pupil premium strategy

For the previous academic year, we have included on our policy:

  • how we spent the pupil premium allocation
  • the impact of the expenditure on eligible and other pupils
  • Pupil premium funding is allocated for each financial year, but the information we publish online refers to the academic year, as this is how parents understand the school system.

How we track and support pupil premium children.

As these children bring additional funding into school, we are held accountable for how this is spent and what impact this is having on the progress of the child. We map provision for our pupil premium children termly and identify their barriers to learning and what we provide to overcome these issues. Barriers are not always academic. They can involve attendance issues, social problems, issues with self-esteem or can be emotionally based. Some of the ways in which we have addressed these barriers over the past year and in our plans include:
  • High quality teaching for all
  • Funding and training an Attendance Officer to track attendance, liaise with staff and the Education Welfare Officer to improve the attendance of ALL children (with a particular focus on PPM)
  • Fund a counsellor to work with our most vulnerable students
  • Subsidise trips and residential experiences to ensure all children have the same curriculum provision
  • Pay for musical tuition
  • Fund school uniform
  • Provide intervention programmes – Draw and Talk, Social Skills
  • Closing the Gap intervention and immediate feedback in English and Maths
  • Develop our curriculum to ensure that it addresses the needs of all our learners (White Rose Maths / Hamilton Maths, Read Write Inc, Cornerstones etc.)
