A very warm welcome to the Luxulyan Community Primary School website.
We are a happy school with a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration, where staff work exceptionally hard, learning with children effectively. We are passionate about learning and hope that our website gives you a clear understanding of how we aim to provide children with the best learning experiences possible whilst in our care.
At Luxulyan School, an Academy proud to be part of the Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT), we are committed to safeguarding children. The health, safety and emotional well-being of every child are our main priorities. Our aim is that children will thrive during their time with us, in a happy and safe environment.
Luxulyan School is an evolving, popular, rural school on the outskirts of the beautiful Luxulyan Valley. Luxulyan Valley is the steep sided and thickly wooded valley of the River Par, situated in mid Cornwall, England, UK. It was designated as part of a World Heritage Site in 2006.
We currently have 103 pupils on roll, who are organised into 4 classes. These are Ash (Year R), Beech (Years 1 and 2), Sycamore (Years 3 and 4) and Oak (Years 5 and 6). Although there is no on-site nursery, we maintain close links with the village nursery, Luxulyan Pre-School.
At Luxulyan, we want children to excel academically and just as importantly, we want to develop the “whole child” who feels safe, confident and happy. It is always our aim to have as much fun and enjoyment as we possibly can when learning, to create the truly ‘memorable learning experiences’. This is reflected in our Mission Statement:
*GROW LEARN ENJOY EXCEL*
On 1st April 2016, with the support of the community, we became part of the Peninsula Learning Trust along with Penrice Secondary Academy, Carclaze Primary Academy, St.Mewan Primary Academy, Mevagissey Primary Academy, Fowey Primary Academy, Lostwithiel Primary Academy and Mount Charles Primary Academy.
From September 2019, our trust became CELT- Cornwall Education Learning Trust which also meant that Poltair Secondary School joined our schools.
